In autumn 1991, the Department of Economics, Organization and Production Management of Rudny Industrial Institute defined the needs in economists in Kostanay region. Based on the need, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan allowed the admission of 100 full-time students and 50 part-time students to the specialty "Economics and Management".
The opening of the specialty "Economics and Management by Industry" was a response to the challenge of the time of formation of the young state and its transition to a market economy. At that time the graduates of schools in Rudny expressed a keen interest in being trained in Economics.
In June 1992, the first admission of students to the specialty "Economics and Management by Industry" to full-time education in the number of 120 people was carried out.
In 1994, on the basis of the existing Department were opened two popular directions of training of the economists: industry and construction and respectively were formed two departments: Economics and Management in Industry (the head of the department was A. A. Politov, PhD in Economics) and Economics and Management in Construction (the head of the department was Mikhailov A. A., PhD in Economics, which later, in 1995, was headed by Baidakova O. V., PhD in Economics).
The formation of the Department in organizational, methodological and professional aspects took place until 1998. The names of the departments were changed several times taking into account the opening of new specialties (Management and Marketing).
The Department continued the development of training in a new direction, and in 2007 the specialty "Management" was opened.
The main criterion for assessing any University today is its employed graduates in the acquired specialty.
To achieve this goal, the instructors of Economics and Management Department, realizing the contradiction between the social demand for education and traditional methods of training, began to search for innovative teaching methods based on new principles, and, above all, on personality-oriented or developmental approaches to learning.
The quality of training of the RII graduates in Economics and Management confirms the rating of educational programs. According to the rating carried out by the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" (http://atameken.kz) in 2018, the educational program “Management” at Rudny Industrial Institute was ranked sixth highest among 53 universities, and the educational program "Economy" took 18th place among 77 universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The rating was conducted according to the following criteria: the percentage of employed graduates and their average salary, assessment of the relevance of programs, as well as the results of the survey of graduates.
The mission of the Department "Economics and Management" is to prepare highly professional, active, initiative, non-standard thinking and effective professionals who will be in demand and take their rightful place in the modern society.
