Now the department is preparing bachelors in the following specialties: 6В07211 – Mining, 6В07210 – Metallurgy, 6В07212 – Mineral processing. Preparation of bachelors of the specialty Mining is carried out in three specializations: open development of mineral deposits, mine surveying and underground mining of mineral deposits.
The educational program “Mining” is aimed at training specialists competent in the field of engineering support for human activities in the bowels of the earth during operational exploration, mining and processing of solid minerals, construction and operation of underground and open-cast facilities for various purposes, to develop students have personal qualities, professional competencies.
The educational program Metallurgy is aimed at providing professional knowledge in the field of metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, metal forming, metallurgical equipment and
automation of metallurgical production, development of scientific knowledge,
practical experience and professional skills in the field of creating energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies for obtaining, processing technogenic raw materials and using secondary resources.
The Mineral Processing educational program focuses on the preparation of bachelors in mineral processing. Graduates are prepared to work in the following sectors: mining, processing, metallurgical and chemical industries.
In 2019, a master’s program was opened at the Department of Metallurgy and Mining in the area of preparation 7M072 – Production and processing industries under the educational programs “Mining” and “Metallurgy”.
In 2017, the Mining and Metallurgy educational programs received a certificate of international specialized accreditation at the Institute of Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance ACQUIN (Germany). In May 2019, within the framework of international specialized accreditation at the KazSEE Accreditation Center, the Mineral Processing Enrichment educational program was awarded the EUR-ACE Bachelor European quality mark for engineering education.
According to the “Independent Rating of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan-2019”, three specialties of the department were included in the top three winners in educational programs of undergraduate studies. All educational programs took second place. Two faculty teachers entered the TOP-50 of the best university professors in 2019: doctor of technical sciences, professor A.Naizabekov took 35th place and candidate of technical sciences, professor Lezhnev S.N. . – 28th place. Lezhnev S.N. . was recognized as the “Best University Teacher” in 2017.
In 2018, the Atameken NPP rating was held, in which the Mining educational program of the Rudny Industrial Institute took first place among 10 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan training in this specialty, and the Mineral Processing enrichment educational program took third place.
