As part of the working visit of the Chairman of the Board-Rector, Ph.D., Professor, Academician A.B. Naizabekov to Germany, a meeting with the Rector of the Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy, Professor Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht was held.
Our Institute has a long and effective cooperation with the Technical University of Freiberg Mining Academy. The university is currently positioning itself as a “resource university”. The main profile of the university is geosciences, materials science, energy and ecology. Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy is one of the five universities in Germany, which are leaders in terms of research funding.
The meeting discussed the main directions of development of cooperation in the educational and scientific spheres.
Professor Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht expressed his intention to allocate grants and scholarships for RII students to continue their studies at the master’s and doctoral PhD programs of the Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy. This opportunity will be available to graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programs “Mining”, “Metallurgy” and “Mineral processing” for further study in the Master’s degree program, as well as Masters, completing the educational programs “Metallurgy” and “Mining”, in order to continue studying in the PhD doctoral program.
Agreement was also reached to develop academic mobility and student internships. In particular, RII students will study at the Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy as part of the program of external academic mobility. In order to improve the language skills of RII students, the foreign university will organize free online training in German. And the students of the Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy will be trained in the language courses opened at our university.
The range of issues discussed included further joint research in the metallurgical field; organization of advanced training and scientific internships for RII teachers.
