The history of the institute is closely intertwined with the history of Rudny and Sokolovsko-Sarbaisky Mining and Processing Enterprise. In the early 50’s, about 20 thousand young people from different parts of our country came to the town of Rudny for the big construction project to build a mining giant.
The city with its great prospects and unique natural resources could not develop without the center of knowledge and advanced technology. And June 25, 1959 in the town of Rudny on the basis of Sokolovsko-Sarbaisky Mining and Processing Enterprise was opened evening faculty of the Kazakh State Metallurgical Institute (KazGMI). Th e first dean of the faculty – candidate of technical sciences, a graduate of KazGMI I.I. Plyaskin.
In the autumn of 1959 100 engineers SSGOK become the first students of the evening faculty, and in 1962 contingent of the faculty has more than 500 students. Later, full-time and part-time departments were opened at the faculty.
On August 22, 1962 by the order № 802 of the Ministry of the Higher Social Security of the Kazakh SSR the evening faculty is reorganized into an industrial faculty and is transferred to an independent balance.
On March 5, 1964, by the order of the Ministry of the USSR MSSO №175 the Industrial Faculty was reorganized into a branch of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute (KazPTI).
On January 1, 1978 by the decree of the Council of Ministers of the SSR № 765 the KazPTI branch became the fifty-third independent institution of higher education in Kazakhstan – Rudnya Industrial Institute.
Over the years, within the walls of Rudnenskiy Industrial Institute were prepared more than 50 thousand specialists with higher education, many of whom became major leaders, businessmen, civil servants and prominent scientists.
