The educational programmes in metallurgy and mining at Rudny Industrial Institute are leaders in the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is evident from various rankings, where they are ranked number one. One of the main reasons for this is the close cooperation between RII and leading manufacturing companies in the region.
The Rudny Industrial Institute has formed a pool of corporate partners – enterprises that are leaders in the industry, with which we develop mutually beneficial cooperation. This allows us to develop practice-oriented educational programmes, develop dual training and modernise our training and laboratory facilities.
There is now an extensive mechanism for interaction with employers.
These are:
– not only coordination, but also joint development of educational programmes with corporate partners, which includes the introduction of new disciplines into the working curricula, so the miners’ plan included disciplines in which students study modern GIS Micromine and GIS Surpac software products;
-Introduction of elements of dual training, allowing students to perform laboratory work in SSGPO units. For this purpose, laboratory work was carried out in the Blasting Shop, the research laboratory of the Central Processing Facility and in the quarries of SSGPO;
– organization and conduct of internships in the company, professional practices aimed at consolidation of theoretical knowledge obtained during the training, the acquisition of practical skills and competencies. Most of the students during their internships work in the workplace, while receiving a salary;
– organisation of a cycle of master classes by leading specialists and managers of the enterprise in order to get acquainted with best practices. Lectures were delivered for RII students and teachers by directors of Sarbaisky SDK, the Motor Transport Department and the metal rolling plant;
– creation, together with corporate partners, of special laboratories, specialised classrooms reflecting the production activities of enterprises. A laboratory on occupational health and safety was created in RII under the guidance of SSGPO specialists, and virtual laboratory simulators were purchased for many disciplines of the educational programmes;
– preparation of term and graduation theses by students taking into account problem-oriented information provided by enterprises of the real economy, as well as their subsequent defence with the participation of top managers and leading specialists. In 2022 on the basis of JSC “SSGPO” defended diploma works of students of Rudny Industrial Institute of “Mining” specialty with participation of President of JSC “SSGPO” dr.t.c. Grinenko V.I., Chairman of the Board – Rector of RII, academician Naizabekov A.B. The defense was attended by leading specialists of JSC “SSGPO” and RII teachers. Students at the thesis defense showed high theoretical training, good knowledge of the subject of research and answered after the report to the questions of those present. In general, the event was held at a high level and confirmed the high quality of students’ training at Rudny Industrial Institute
– There is an Expert Council for Accreditation of Practical Skills of Students, which consists of leading experts of enterprises and teachers of RII. Its main task is to select students for inclusion in the reserve database. Approximately 100 mining graduates passed the knowledge test, after which most of them received a certificate of trust. All of them were subsequently hired, as the employment rate for our educational programmes is 100%.
